A major component to consider when designing your stone countertop is the edge profile. This is an important factor that you need to discuss with your kitchen designer and farbricator prior to your countertop being processed. The edge or profile that you choose can have a dramatic impact on the look and feel of your granite counter tops and your kitchen.
Also keep in mind that more rounded edges such as bullnose and pencil rounds are more forgiving and therefore less susceptible to chipping compared to square arrised edges. More detailed edges such as Ogee and laminated edges cost more than standard edges such as pencil round.
There are many different edge details that can be done with stone. Below are examples of the most common edges. Please note that these options can vary depending upon the natural stone you are using.
